Accra, Ghana – October 8, 2025. The Ghana TVET Service warmly congratulates Dabokpa Technical Institute on their outstanding achievement in placing fourth at the Energy Commission Senior High School Renewable Energy Challenge, with their innovative project, a Solar-Powered Intelligent Baby Incubator. The team’s ingenuity and technical precision reflect the growing strength of Ghana’s reformed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system, which continues to empower young people with practical, future-oriented skills. Their achievement embodies the vision outlined in the NDC government’s TVET modernization agenda, which seeks to equip the youth with employable skills, drive industrialization, and support sustainable job creation.
The Renewable Energy Challenge brings together talented students from senior high and technical schools across the country to develop renewable energy solutions for community challenges. Dabokpa Technical Institute’s project stood out for its creativity, technical depth, and focus on sustainability qualities that mirror the transformative direction of Ghana’s skills development efforts.
Their success underscores the importance of continued investment in skills-based education, innovation hubs, and competency-based training, all of which remain central to the government and the service’s commitment to making TVET a powerful enabler of inclusive growth and green industrial transformation. This milestone also highlights the role of collaboration among development partners, private sector actors, and institutions in nurturing innovation within the TVET ecosystem. It demonstrates that when young Ghanaians are given the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need, they rise to create solutions that serve both people and planet.
The Ghana TVET Service remains committed to promoting excellence in technical education, advancing youth innovation, and supporting national development through skills that work.
