TRAINING ASSESSMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE DIVISION
FUNCTIONS OF THE DIVISION
- Establish basic quality assurance standards and processes for training providers.
- Establish procedures for the registration of training providers
- Monitor the activities of training providers and ensure that they implement programmes in accordance with plans they present for accreditation.
- Monitor the compliance of training providers with established quality assurance standards.
- Investigate and act on complaints received from learners, parents/guardians, employers and other stakeholders regarding the quality of training and assessment.
- Develop and implement tailor-made training programmes, refresher courses and award Certificates of Competence.
- Deliver quality training and assessment/examinations in TVET institutions and for other participants.
- Support the implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to promote lifelong learning
- Assess the performance and progress of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Qualifications Framework (NTVETQF) and make suggestions to the Commission for TVET.
- Organize outreach and public education programmes to attract and retain Trainees/ Learners in TVET institutions.
- Establish and implement policies with respect to registration of Training Providers, Trainers, Industries, Occupational and Professional Groups who work with the Service.
- Recommend Facilitator, Trade, Industry, Occupational and Professional Groups that work with the Service, to the Commission for TVET to support the development or review of curriculum.
- Monitor the labour market and suggest occupational areas that lack national occupational standards and qualification structures to the Commission for TVET.
- Provide support in the validation of curriculum and implement same developed by the Commission.
- Ensure that assessment practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements
- Develop, review and implement standards and guidelines in the Career Guidance & Counselling, School Health, Physical Education, Arts and Culture services delivery.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the formation and organization of Career Guidance & Counselling and School Health Clubs, committees, and other related activities.
- Prepare Annual Career Guidance & Counselling and School Health plans.
- Organize institutional, regional and national Career fairs, and Physical Education, Arts and Culture competitions.
- Develop National Rules/Regulations and ethics to guide all Career Guidance & Counselling and School Health programmes.
- Carry out Career Guidance & Counselling, School Health, Physical Education, Arts and Culture activities at the regional level.
- Organize capacity building workshops for all Career Guidance & Counselling, School Health, Physical Education, Arts and Culture Coordinators and staff.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to promote and organize Career Guidance & Counselling, School Health, Physical Education, Arts and Culture orientation programmes in basic schools.
- Oversee the formation, inauguration, regularization and activities of the Cadet Corps in collaboration with the relevant Security Agencies
- Oversee the organization of elections of National Federation Officers to help facilitate the organization of sporting activities
- Oversee the organization of special (Paralympics) Sports competition for all TVET Special Institutions
- Oversee the participation of selected Institutions in the annual Independence Day Celebrations
